Vent your vehicle

After your new window has been installed, and If it’s a hot day outside, it is strongly recommended to keep your door window down and open about an inch for 24 hours. This will reduce the buildup of cabin pressure inside your vehicle preventing stress on the DuPont™ Automotive Glass Adhesive seal until it has had adequate time to properly cure. Taking this action will prevent air leaks and unnessecary stress on your new windshield as the adhesive is hardening.

Keep the glass tape on for 4-5 hours

After your new windshield has been installed you will notice a few pieces of wide, clear tape on the top corners from your new windshield to your roof. Don’t worry this is only temporary and you can remove the tape in 4 to 5 hours. We put the tape there to keep your newly installed windshield in the proper postion and seating while the DuPont™ adhesive is curing so the glass doesn’t shift. If you hear an odd flapping noise while driving the day after your new windshiled has been installed, don’t worry it’s not an air leak. You just forgot to pull the tape off.

Washing your car after your new windshield is installed

Please do not pressure wash or take your vehicle thru an automated car wash regardless if it is brushless or not. Brushes, pressure washing, heavy water spray can weaken the DuPont™ Automotive Glass Adhesive seal as it needs time to fully cure. Please wait 48 hours before taking it to a car wash. Don’t worry about rain or snow. Cold weather actually helps the adhesive cure. If you have to wash your vehicle right after your new windshield has been installed, you can safely, gently hand wash your vehicle with a soft sponge or cloth for the first 48 hours.
